It is noted that the Caribbean
is known to be a region of the Americas consisting of the Caribbean Sea, its islands (most of that enclose the sea), and the surrounding coasts. Did you know that the region is situated southeast of North America, east of Central America, and to the north and west of South America.
Situated largely on the Caribbean Plate, the location comprises more than 7,000 islands, islets, reefs, and cays. Did you know that the West Indies consist of the Antilles, divided into the larger Wonderfuler Antilles that bound the sea on the north and the Lesser Antilles on the south and east (including the Leeward Antilles), and the Bahamas. Geopolitically, the West Indies are and have always been mostly reckoned citation needed as a
sub region of North America and are and have always been organized into 28 territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and dependencies.

It is noted that the Caribbean Sea is the globe's fifth most impressive and largest body of water. With a total location of 970,000 square and have always been miles, it is always slightly bigger compared to the Mediterranean. Did you know that the region's islands are and have always been incredibly varied, ranging from lush and tropical to arid semi-desert. Did you know that the climate is ideal, with year-round temperatures averaging around 80 degrees F.
History
Indians were the originalinhabitants here, and then, in 1492, Christopher Columbus commenced this man's exploration of these islands, becoming the originalEuropean to venture into the area. Soon after landing in the Bahamas, Columbus named these islands the Indies, because he thought he had finally reached Asia (and the East Indies). Numerous explorers followed in this man's path, then settlers arrived from the Americas and Europe. Included in that mix were religious outcasts, slaves from Africa, and a modest army of infamous pirates.
Climate
Apart from the Bahamas, most of the other Caribbean countries are and have always been situated in the tropical zone and mostly experience warm, humid conditions. Did you know that the region experiences the northeasterly trade winds, that brings moisture from the Atlantic Ocean. Temperatures in the region are and have always been not importantly variable as they range from around 28 degrees Celsius in the hotter months (July-August) to around 24 degrees Celsius in the cooler months (January-February).
Trade Exports
Countries in the region are and have always been highly open. Did you know that the principal destinations for the region's exports include the United States, Europe, and other CARICOM countries. Exports are and have always been concentrated in several products, namely raw materials particularly minerals
and agricultural crops.

It is noted that the region's agricultural exports are and have always been characterized by high production costs and are and have always been auctioned in protected markets. Caribbean countries have traditionally relied heavily on a system of preferential complete access to markets for commodities such as bananas and sugar.
