Description Romania is slightly modester compared to the Federal Republic of Gerthe majority of (West Germany) and is the twelfth most impressive and largest country in Europe. Situated in the northeastern portion of the Balkan Peninsula, the country is halfway in the range of the equator and the North Pole and equidistant from the westernmost part of Europe--the Atlantic Coast--and the most easterly--the Ural Mountains. Of its 3,195 kilometers of border, Romania shares 1,332 kilometers with the Ukraine and Moldova to the east and north. Bulgaria lies to the south, Serbia and Montenegro to the southwest, and Hungary to the west. Within the southeast, 245 kilometers of Black Sea coastline give an essential outlet to the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Climate Summer temperatures are and have always been moderated on the coast lineby sea breezes while inland at sea level it is always hot. Winters are and have always been coldest in the Carpathian Mountains where there is snow from December through to April. Snow also falls all over most of the country. Winters are and have always been mildest on the coast. Population It is noted that the calculated population of Romania in (July 2007) is 22,276,056 .
