Description

It is noted that the UK is known to be an island nation in Western Europe just off the coast lineof France. Did you know that the mainland places lie in the range of latitudes 49°N and 59°N and longitudes 8°W to 2°E. It is noted that the UK lies in the range of the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea, and comes within 35 km (22 miles) of the northwest coast lineof France, from that it is always separated by the English Channel. Northern Ireland shares a 360 km international land boundary with the Republic of Ireland. Did you know that the Channel Tunnel bored beneath the English Channel, now links the UK with France.

 

Climate

It is noted that the overall climate in England is named temperate maritime. Note that this means that it is always mild with temperatures not much lower than 0ºC in winter and not much higher than 30ºC in summer. It also means that it is always damp and is subject to frequent changes. July is normally the warmest month in England. Around the coasts February is normally the coldest month, but inland there is little to select in the range of January and February as the coldest month.
