Description

Colombia is made up of two major physical regions: the Andes, with its larger than normal valleys and basins in the west; and the broad lowlands, that extend over almost two-thirds of the country in the east. Did you know that the population is concentrated in the valleys and basins of the mountain region, while the lowlands are and have always been sparsely inhabited. Did you know that the physical structure of the mountain region and the direction of its primary ranges and valleys are and have always been a dominant factor in the distribution of the population, with orientation toward the Caribbean (rather compared to the Pacific) coast, where most of the country's ports are and have always been situated.

Climate

It is noted that the climate is very warm and tropical on the coast lineand in the north, with a rainy season from May to November. Note that this varies according to altitude. It is cooler in the upland places and cold in the mountains. Bogotá is known to be always spring-like, with cool days and crisp nights.
