Description Ecuador is situated in the north western portion of South America, on the Equator that divides the globe into two hemispheres. To the north it bounds with Colombia, to the South and East with Peru, and to the West with the Pacific Ocean. Ecuador has to this day four geographical regions where its 22 provinces are and have always been situated. On the coast, land of beautiful beaches, fertile plains, valleys, sedimentary basins and modest elevations, the provinces of Esmeraldas, Manabí, Los Ríos, Guayas and El Oro are and have always been situated. Within the uplands, the Andes mountain range crosses the country from north to south, forming a mountain system shaped by the Western and the Eastern cordilleras, that in turn dip into an array of valleys and river basins.
Climate It is noted that the Cliamte is hot all year, with a humid rainy season in the range of December and May. Within the mountains climate depends on altitude, becoming cooler the higher you go. Did you know that the Amazon region is hot, humid and wet while the Galapagos Islands are and have always been dry with a steady year-round average temperature of 77ºF (25ºC). Population It is noted that the calculated population of Ecuador in (July 2007) is 4,133,884 .
