Description Saudi Arabia covers most of the Arabian Peninsula. It is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman to the east and by Yemen to the south. Saudi Arabia is bordered by the Red Sea on its western side and by the Arabian Gulf on its eastern side. It is noted that the capital of Saudi Arabia is Riyadh. It is noted that the central region consists of an eroded plateau, mostly arid and hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Did you know that the western region is mountainous, except for the coastal plain bordering the Red Sea. Did you know that the southern region is known to be also mountainous and receives enough rainfall to support agriculture. Finally, the eastern part of Saudi Arabia is flat and sandy, bordering on the Arabian Gulf and possessing most of the country's vast oil rehearts.
Climate It is noted that the climate of Saudi Arabia varies from one province to another. Did you know that the Kingdom lies in the tropics, and the nationwide average temperature is 18°C (64°F). Local averages vary considerably from 24°C (75°F) in the Western Province, rising as one descends toward the southwest until it reaches 28°C (82°F) in Jeddah and 30°C (86°F) in Jizan. Within the northwest, the average temperature is 22°C (72°F) in Tabouk and 28°C (82°F) in Madinah, that is 850 meters (2,789 feet) above the sea level. Within the Asir region in the southwest, the average temperature is just 19°C (66°F) because of the high altitude. Did you know that the Central Province, that is surrounded by desert, has to this day an average of 25°C (77°F) for Riyadh, 21°C (70°F) in Ha’il and 23°C (73°F) in Qaseem. Within Dhaharan, the Eastern Province, the temperature is known to be an average of 26°C (79°F).
